1/4 of the year has gone but not sure were as I’m sure I did not see all those days some one stole some from me LOL
On Sunday night I spent 5 hrs of playing on block 3 of The Secret Garden, I’m staying with the theme I did 1 and 2 in using chintz fabrics for my flowers and doing some thing like broderie perse. My vase is some very very heavy silk fabric from a wedding kimono. My grandmother had a vase just like this; it just glowed like silk too and was egg white so I have chosen white like my grandmothers vase using the heavy silk. Vase and cat are ironed down but nothing else, hope the wind does not blow LOL I’ve enjoyed working on this block so far it is completey different from 1 and 2 but still a challenge. Hope every one else is having fun too.

Block 3 of The Secret Garden BOM 2017 by Esther Aliu Thank you Esther for such a lovely design to play with.
Some times we are not completely happy with a block and we start altering it ?????

BUT it looks worse than before so its back to leaving it how it was before I added these appliqué flowers they are far to heavy with the broderie perse flowers.

Block 1 of The Secret Garden mystery BOM 2017 by Esther Aliu. I Finished the large centre flower Sat night now I have completely appliquéd the left 1/2 of the block. Have the flowers and bow on the right side to do now.

Flower on the right is the same shape as the one I’ve just about completed appliquéing and embroidering, its just a different shade, showing this so you can see the difference when you add thread play as I call it LOL . Monday I finished the big orange flower then added bullion knots to the pale pink flower

Starting to add the yellow bullions knots to the centre to give more 3D effect when you see it in real life.

Just started doing embroidery on this wee flower then will blanket stitch round the edges of the flower.

Esther Aliu’s mystrey BOM The Secret Garden block 2 for 2017 it is still at the same stage as 2 weeks ago!!!! But nearly finished.

Stopped machine appliquéing these circles down as the thread kept breaking, I thought it was the machine Hubby had just fixed but finally I checked the bobbin thread and it was rotten!!!!!! Now thinking about adding some wadding behind some of the circles to give a 3D effect, so pondering this one at present.

Came across these blocks last week they are silk on silk original pattern was in Austrian Patchwork Magazine I’ve of course been me have changed several elements LOL I hope to add sashings to these blocks this month!!!!!!

what a difference a day makes LOL By adding the circles the whole design looks completely different, I’m having so much fun with this sashiko I’m not using a pattern just going were I want to at the time I’m quilting.

Managed to get the old machine I was given for the shop going after 5 hours of cleaning and oiling, hubby spent 3 nights working on the later model it is no longer seized but not working 100% yet, I will use it for a month and see if it keeps running then sell it in the local Opp shop i work in.

Lovely blog Glenda, enjoying the closeups of embroidery on your flowers, lovely to see it close up, does make your flowers pop. Block 3 looks looks gorgeous, love the flowers you chose for it and your cat is so cute. Don’t no how you keep making progress on so many different projects, you are one amazing lady. Hugs Jenny.
you work on so many projects! the embroidery you added to the Secret Garden looks really great – such a variety of fabrics you have to work with and it sounds like they always come from your stash that is so great!
Thanks Karen for stopping by. Yes I do try to just work from my stash now, some pieces I thought about moving on a few years ago but never got around to it and now I’m using those very fabrics LOL What Im all ways buying is black fabrics but very black good 100% cotton black and I label these very clearly when and were I bought them, so I don’t mix them in one quilt as they are all always slightly different and show up in a quilt top if you mix them. I’ve learn by my own mistakes LOL Cheers Glenda
Dear Glenda
Rain seems to be everywhere. We have had a lot, more expected. Love the tulips and the way you are embroidering all the little details on to all the applique. Your quilting on the black fabric is striking. At the moment I am finishing off a couple of overdue projects. Then I can get back to the projects I want to work on. Spring is finally here and the tulips I planted last year, is now popping out the ground, it is a sight for sorry eyes!
The embroidery on your flowers is beautiful!!
Wow, Glenda, you have been so busy! I love your Secret Garden blocks. The stitching you are doing adds so much to the flowers.
Thanks Vireya, its what I enjoy doing when I’m a little stressed after a busy day it relaxes me more than any thing else. Cheers Glenda
