Dear Meredithe once again a new month has come in and you have encouraged me to make up a blog on my Ufosin2017 but not sure if I have even worked on one of them!!!!!! but thank you for helping me work on so many of my UFO’s and some WIP’s this year with out you and Ann many of them would not have been touched.
Well I started off in great leaps and bounds the first 1/2 of the year then kept getting side tracked with my mystery BOM and another BOM this year then with one of them!!!!!! Then while looking over and over for 4 parts I’d missed placed of my mystery BOM kept finding UFO’s Id forgotten about and spending time on them!!!!!!
SO what have I done in Oct?????

Spent a lot of time on my Secret Garden centre of the mystery BOM for 2017 by Esther Aliu. Only the stems appliquéd on and I did those by machine the rest will be hand appliquéd. Need to remake the yellow centre.

Changed the very centre loved it but it did not work with the rest of the quilt to much orange, so back to the original yellow but remade it. Why thats a long story but lets just say it felt like rubber and I can not get a hand needle through it LOL.

My centre flowers looked muddy from a distance so pulled out some paint pencils I’d been given recently and started adding some yellow what a difference it has made to my centre, the white are no longer look like holes from a distance.

Ive missed placed 4 of these wee triangle and thats why I’m finding lots of UFO’s I’d forgotten about LOL I’m still working on these wee triangles they take hrs and hrs to make just one. I sure hope I find my missing 4 and don’t have to remake them?????

Oct 31st saw the realise of the lay out for The Secret Garden mystery quilt so I was able to assemble the parts I’d completed I’m very happy with the way it is turning out it has been such a joy to make this quilt top every stitch I have enjoyed. lots of challengers which I thrive on.

I had to put these blocks away as we had visitors from France then Brisbane but they are back on the bed since near the end of Oct and I have been working on one of the blocks!

Came across my Peaceful pathways by Esther Aliu came out over 67 years ago, this time I managed to sew my centre together and so now I can move on with this delightful quilt top.

Finally a whole centre I don’t know why I procrastinated over the final seams on this as it went together so well.?????

I made another QAYG 1960’s hanky block they are growing and if I’m lucky will have them made by 2018.

Managed to applqiue down several more circles but boy does it hurt my back doing these circles the constant turning and shoving the top through a narrow throat on my Janomi is a killer.
I’m surprised I did any of this in Oct as we had visitors for 3 weeks of that month and I did no sewing during the day just late at night. Off to link with Meredithe now.
So thats my Oct for 2017 nothing finished but a little here and there added LOL Cheers Glenda
Delightful to see what you did manage to accomplish.
Still can not believe I did so much Chris? You looked so happy in the photo of yourself and Di Ford. Must have been a great retreat. Cheers Glenda
these all look so pretty! I bet it will be nice to get some of them quilted!
One day I may finish them as quilt tops Karen but I won’t get them quilted! Family will have to get them done if they want them as bed quilts LOL Cheers Glenda.
Such beautiful quilts!
Thank you Pamela I visited your UFOsin2017 my goodness you are working on some lovely projects. Then saw the beautiful photo’s of Fujii San you can see where their love of indigo dyes come from with that beautiful blue sea all around them Cheers Glenda
Your work is lovely and you continue to make progress!
Thank you Kyle, I just need to keep out of the garden so much and spend some day hrs sewing instead and I then might finish some quilt tops LOL. But at least I’m never bored.
Cheers Glenda
You have such lovely projects. I can see why you decided to stick with the yellow center. It repeats some of the other colors in the quilt top. Applique is so beautiful but so time consuming. You really did accomplish a lot in the month of October.
Hi Robin, I really should have stuck to only working on the 17UFOs I choose in Jan but I kept coming across all these other ones when hunting for some thing I’d miss placed LOL. Yes you are right hand appliqué takes 100s of hrs but oh it is so soothing and if you have worries they disappear and you are left with the enjoyment of seeing these lovely quilt tops growing. Cheers Glenda
I’m amazed at how much you got done this month with having visitors for most of it! Such beautiful projects, your applique work is just stunning Glenda! <3 Also love the redwork, really hoping to do some over Christmas myself… Those paint pencils are neat, not come across that technique before? Have a great week whatever you are working on!
