My week has been revolving around my surprise visit from my brother and his darling wife from NZ So very little sewing done since they arrived on Sunday. But I was working on sewing more rows of my ANZ quilt top.

Working on my ANZ quilt 3 more rows to add , decided to hang it on my design wall to see how it looked from a distance but was disappointed with it, there was nothing to hold my eyes to it, what could I do to keep the original theme ANZ but keep the eye from leaving the quilt top?

6 rows sewn together 3 more to go.All though it’s OK there is nothing to keep you looking, so while looking for some black fabric I found this black silver lurex kimono from the 1950 1960s yes even the Japanese loved the silver look when it came out. A lightbulb went off what IF
I added Silver Lurex circles!!!!! Both from the same fabric, dark is the right side of fabric and the silver is underneath I ironed on Iron- on -fusing to both sides of two pieces of this fabric and then cut out lots of circles and now I get to play with them on top of my ANZ quilt.

So interlocking these cut out circles Im adding some thing to keep the eye from wondering off the quilt so quickly?

I still have 3 more rows to add and I will cut out more circles and play some more after I added these last 3 rows then decided. Will show you an update after I add the last 3 rows
Where I went on my Wednesday this week. A hours drive North of my home.
My brother and darling sisterinlaw building their cairn on one of the local beachs we drove past were many others had built them, there were so few rocks left they had to go to the shore line to make theres were there were some stones still that had not been used or had fallen and were waiting again to be used. Ginny was constantly watching her back for crocs in the water?
What Im working on today Thursday in OZ, but it is Wednesday in other parts of the world today.
Have linked up with Esther on her WOW or WIPs now Rushing out the door to meet up again with family for lunch. No time for garden and creepy crawlies this week LOL Thank you for stopping by to check on me. Cheers Glenda
Seriously? Crocs in the water?? I was looking for shoes.
Those silver circles are ingenious and I love them!
Yes sadly we do have crocs and sharks in our coastal waters Chris. On Tuesday a guy lost his life to one by drowning, he and his mate were out fishing and the Croc capsized their boat; one guy was trapped under the upturned boat, the other sat on top of the boat and kept throwing items that were floating around the boat at the croc when it kept coming in close, finally some other fisher men heard his cries for help and rescued him but his mate had drowned. We only swim in the nets which are set up and manned by the locals.
Glad you like the circles Chris???? I visited you earlier to day and throughly enjoyed the visit to the art quilts with you; thanks so much for sharing them. Hugs Glenda
How ingenious the arrangement of your circles! I’m thinking those circles would be very dramatic alone on a black background. They would also show up more.
Wow! What a difference the silver circles make, definitely add them. Your Japanese quilt is beautiful. I missed your garden photos but it is warming up here some. Yesterday I mowed yard in short sleeves! Blessings, Gretchen
OHHH thanks Gretchen thats so positive. I just took them off the quilt today so I can add the last 3 rows then I will cut out more circles as the quilt will be a 1/3 bigger and will need more circles to balance the size. I’m additive to circles in any form LOL. When I was 8 years old I had a school teacher; he was also the schools art teacher and he showed us how to make a tree with circles he was a very mod artist LOL but ever since then I have loved circles, he also taught me to think out side the box! Hope summer is coming soon for you, it is still very warm here around 23C day and night a perfect temperature. Hugs Glenda
Dear Glenda
The circles just the way you placed them on your quilt is perfect. Do not make any more, the setting you have in the photograph is perfect. Love the silver, it is one of the colours I have in our bedroom. Glad you got a surprise visit from your family, they are the best. Yes, crocs in the water, have seen sharks swim up river in South Africa along the Storms River mouth. Love the way adults still love to play, even if it is with rocks!
sorry to have to watch out for sharks and crocs! We are about as far north in the states that have alligators – we do not see them often and they are not where I live but some in parks that are a little south of us – very rarely even a little further south you might see them cross the road.
I love your quilts that you show and the rings added to the first quilt is quite a good design add!! Looking forward to seeing how you finish this.
Have fun with the family – and watch your backs!! 🙂
Hi Glenda,
That’s a great idea, adding circles to the ANZ quilt, they look great!
Terrific beach views! Very scary having to keep watch for crocs!
So sad about the guy who drowned!
Gosh, and there was me worrying about two “new to me” cats going outdoors for the first time – your crocs tale certainly put things into perspective!
Love your Japanese quilt, such pretty colours.

Way to Go Glenda! – Those circles are awesome, really lifts the quilt.
And another beach to add to my ‘bucket list’ of places to visit one day!!!
Cheers Wendy
How wonderful to have a surprise visit from your brother and SIL, looks from your photo’s they are having a great time but I would be so wary of crocs too, didn’t think of them being a beach hazard.
Love the addition of your silver circles they bring your ANZ quilt to a different level, looking forward to seeing how you finally arrange them. Your choice of the heart flowers for the dark triangles of your japanese quilt is just what it needed, great work.
