I saved this from the rubbish bin a few years ago it is a HUGE throw and so I decided to make it in to 2 large throws before repairing the damaged crotched square which there are many.

I unpicked this week. Now there are two big throws !!!!!

I finished appliquéing this flower down and embroidering inside it during the week but it looked odd to me with out any base leaves !

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

SO I found some leaves added so iron on fussing to the back of them.

Much better it looks like a happy flower now.

I added the last machine appliqué 2 a block for Diamond Hill last night 2 down and 2 to go!!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I rescued these blocks from the rubbish in 2015  as I loved the colours. I unpicked 50% of them and resewed them adding the dark  final panel and a extra pink to make the blocks all the same size as all the blocks were different sizes.  These are all made quilt as you go blocks, I made up the centre two panel but I made a mistake and must have lost interest LOL   On the weekend I unpicked my mistake and sewed theses wee blocks all together in to 4 panels. Two panels I’ve joined and the other two are ready to sew together then I just have the centre seam to do.  I will make up a pink and black wide border abstract may be!!!! But not today LOL  There were 2 more blocks but impossible to fix to fit with these blocks as they had been cut 1/4inch  shorter on all the strips .

In the garden today

I should clean our decking like you do your pavers – it needs it again, I usually do it every other year but this year was wetter than normal I will need to do it in the late spring next year. Your quilt blocks are so pretty and what a nice idea to divide the crochet throw into two – it looks very large.

Morning Karen yes the mould sure is a draw back living in a wet hot climate. like you we have had more wet days than usual we are in to the middle of what should be our dry season and we are still getting rain and much colder days than normal. I had a nice surprise last night I thought I’d 2 more Diamond Hill blocks to complete after finishing one on Tuesday night, when I went to do another I found 2 others complete so now only have 1 left to finish machine appliquéing down!!!! so I have it near the machine to finish, Ive learnt so much about my machine and how to appliqué with it on making Diamond Hill this year. With the cold this year my right hand has been very sore and I know it will not be up to hand quilting for much longer so glad I’ve started to teach my self now rather than when its to late LOL. Cheers Glenda

Diamond Hill and Secret Garden look lovely. I remember when you started reworking the log cabin blocks. I really like the design you’ve made. If we want to have gardens and flowerbeds, we just need to do the work to keep them. Hope you are staying warm with your cooler than normal winter. Blessings!

Morning Gretchen, I have been side tracked from my log-cabin blocks yet again! I’m trying to make up my 126 leaves for the final border of Diamond Hill, have 1/2 of them made, doing all the prep work for that borer as I’m waiting on purchasing some more black fabric. Logcabin blocks are still on one of my work tables so hopefully I get those panels sewn together before they are put away! It has been raining again so I have had to stay inside so I’ve been working on my DH centre blocks machine appliquéing the pieces down, I have one left to do and I have learnt so much from making these blocks as Ive always hand appliquéd in the past. Hugs Glenda

  3. Kyle says:

Your SG block is beautiful. The added leaves make the flower much better. You have been the rescuer down under. ( I think that was the title of a Disney movie). It feels good to save someone else’s project from the bin. Whose bin have you been diving into?

    • glenda says:

Thank you Kyle, SG vase blocks are such beautiful designs to work on Ive loved every stitch Ive done on them. I’ve completed two now but still 2 to go so many hrs of sewing still to do but as I’m enjoying it so much I don’t mind at all how long they take me. I do volunteer work twice a week at our local church Opp shop so rescue them before they end up in the skip bin LOL some times they are past repair but most times with lots of hrs of work and lots of elbow grease or stitching I get them back to having a new life. Cheers Glenda

  4. Wendy Laird says:

    G’day Glenda,
I am constantly amazed at the treasures people leave at your ‘op shop’. And I really think you could share some of that rain and send it down our way – Driest June/July in decades! I don’t mind not getting wet but we will be looking for water before summer!!!
    Lots Hugs Wendy & Co.

    • glenda says:

Hi Wendy I will bottle up some of our rain for you LOL. I don’t honestly mind the rain it is the mould that grows because we have so much that it drives me bonkers LOL Its hard work removing it and we have to use such strong chemicals to get it to come off. You can see by those paves how thick the mould grows. Even though we have had a lot of rain the catchment area has not been getting it and we are on water restrictions for watering the gardens in our region. not that it effects us but it is hard on the farmers who need the water for their irrigation. Cheers Glenda

  5. Wendy Laird says:

PS – I agree, your flower did need some leaves
    Lovely work 🙂
