WOW or WIP’s with Esther
I’m cheating this week and using a blog I made up during the week, but it is what I’m working on to day also. I’m making a tiny house and at 1am I was working on my falcon wall hanging!!!!!!! Cheers Glenda
Im not sure what I will be adding here, have to check my photo’s to see what I did? First thank you yet again Lynette Meredithe and Anne running this this year it does help me try and keep on track LOL I will be linking this blog with 18 in 2018 at What a Hoot
Happy Easter every one.
Ohhhh dear its All new projects, I will run out of my 8 numbers soon LOL
NEW I loved every moment I spent on making this beautiful design of Esther’s. I’m not making the whole quilt just this centre for a wall art.
NEW I was only going to make the centre of this BOM but I just kept on going as I was loving these blocks that go around the centre and the borders got me too.
NEW Ive all ways wanted to make a Red and Green quilt but never seen the right design to inspire me to say this is IT!!!!! Then Nancy in the USA showed me one she had made and that was it. It was a copy of a quilt made around 1880 and the copy was called . I’m making a modern version of it, I have changed the shape of the leaves, added different size berries, and using lots of reds, Added more leaves to give my block a circle look. but the lay out is basically the same? LOL
As if I don’t have enough projects on the go!!! I have started making these tiny wee houses LOL They finish at 3inchs!!!!!! Nancy asked if I’d make them with her but I was not going to make them as I thought the challenge with such small pieces and machine made would be to much for me ? But when we had the terrible storms last week I decided I need something very challenging to take my mind off what was happening around me! First one took me 3 hrs to make LOL. And sure took my mind off the storm, next night we had 16inchs of rain in 4 hrs, again I need some thing to take my mind off that torrental rain, that one took me 2 hrs, tonight’s was just because I wanted to make another one LOL it took me One hour and a 1/4. So I’m improving time wise and now really enjoying making them LOL.
I’m calling this one Old-New but its not my UFO LOL
I did not make this beautiful beautiful crazy patch work bag, I found it in the thrift shop and had to rescue it, I spent the night I bought it threading pulled threads and sewing them back in to the bag. Now it looks like new, fabrics are velvets and satins it is so so beautiful, especially the bead work its been done by an artist of bead work.
For the last two weeks up till 3 days ago we ahve had rain rain and more heavy rain and storms, then Monday night we were drowned in 14inchs of rain at our place and some areas over the catchment area 1/2 metre of water in 4 hrs!!!!!!
What the falls looked like after we had 14inchs and 1/2 metre on some parts of the catchment area Monday night.
Many had floodwaters through their homes some lost every thing. This is why I started making those wee Tiny houses and now I’m additive to them LOL
I was so surprised that a whole month had gone by and not one UFO worked on ? So today I’ve been working on my Hawk wall hanging that has been finished for about 20 years waiting to be sandwiched to quilted!!!
I hope more of you have been more successful at working on UFO’s than I have been LOL
Also linking with Esther Aliu’s WOW or WIP’s today Wednesday 4th April 2018
Cheers Glenda
that waterfall is just amazing sorry though that people lost their homes, it is so dangerous what so much rushing water can do. Love your stitch work – that bag is amazing
Hi Karen, flood water has finally gone and now it’s clean up time!!! Won’t be so much time for sewing for a while. Compared to many we are lucky. Then we were very lucky a cyclone that had been threatening us for 10 days has moved way down South, just hope it does not come back up? That lovely bag is exquisite, the detail and craftsmanship has to be seen to believe. Each bead has been stitched down so some one had been taught by a pro. I have it hanging in my sewing room like a painting just to enjoy looking at it now I’ve repaired it. Cheers Glenda.
Your tiny little houses are fantastic! And that red and white quilt is so lovely too. I always enjoy seeing your projects in motion.:)
Those falls are breath-taking. Living in a dryer part of the world, I can’t even imagine getting that much rain in such a short amount of time.
Love your red and green quilt. It’s going to be amazing.
Hi Robin, I ve lived in the tropics most of my life and I have never seen rain like that before and I hope never again, so many people around us lost every thing, and many had water through their homes, its very hard to cope with when you are hit by a natal disaster, weeks, months and some times years later you feel drained. We were lucky compared to so many here. I buried my self in my fabrics to shut out what was happening around me, thank goodness for quilting lOL Loving my Red and Green quilt top too, its turning out much better than I first was thinking. Happy Easter Glenda
So glad that gorgeous bag has gone to a loving home. Someone really treasured it. I can never find treasures at op shops, and envy those who have a “nose” for it. Enjoy,
Hi Alison lovely to see you, I have that beautiful bag hanging on my wall at present till it goes to its new owner, I just look at it in awe the beading and the split stitch shading work is incrediable. I get many of these treasures as I help run our local church Opp Shop and the other ladies know I rescue lots of old treasures and put them aside for me rather than throw them in to the skip dumpster. Some need lots of hrs of work others just careful repair work so they look like new again. Happy Easter Glenda
I love the way you’re changing those blocks a little and making them your own. Your work is beautiful. I definitely would have rescued that purse too!
Hi Sandy you are sure doing much better than I am at my UFO’s I really need to be more focused on them!!!!! Loving my new projects so much I keep been pulled to them instead of those 18 UFO’s LOL Happy Easter Glenda
My goodness, I am exhausted reading about and admiring all your projects. Stay safe and dry!!
Hi Anne and thanks for dropping in. I’m not doing to good with my 6 UFO’s but will run out of numbers soon for my 6 new projects the way I’m going but there are so many tempting ideas out there this year LOL Cheers Glenda
Dear Glenda
Your projects look amazing. Do we ever have enough projects on the go? My hubby asked me not too long ago: Do everything have to be a quilt? Thinking about it, the answer is maybe not. So now I look at the WIP’s with new eyes. Love that you have decided to only make a wall hanging. Diamond Hill from last year? Thinking they may be turned into big cushion covers, with echo quilting…. Your little houses just says, really? We will not take up too much time.
LOL! My honest list of everything from stitching, to quilting is above 77. All started since 2000.
Some get finished, others are all ongoing. So they are what will keep me busy for the next few years.
Maggie
Hi Maggie again we have some thing in common so so so many projects, I don’t call mine UFOs they are just projects to finish as I feel like it LOL. Trouble is Im running out of time LOL and L keep thinking of a design or see one Id love to work on? Hugs Glenda from a drenched wee village.
Hey there Glenda,
I have been thinking of you while watching the Weather up your way. The falls look terrifying but Spectacular! No rain here for months – the garden is SO dry.
And I am always amazed at the treasures you find at work – so beautiful!
Cheers Wendy & Co.
Hi Wendy lovely to hear from you. Finally the wet season has left it, it was a horrific one this year with lot of damage due to flooding.WE even felt it this year, first time in 20 years. Have another treasure but this one was given to me, if I get time to clean it up will show on my blog this week. Finished a UFO today so very happy LOL Cheers Glenda
