Juliette has taken up most of my time since Friday night?
L I have been doing 50% yard cleaning, 25% sewing and 25% sleeping this last week. I fell in love with Juliette on Friday and have been cutting and prepping her ever since. I had the perfect fabrics for my idea of her so the rest was easy, print pattern, cut out templates draw on to the back of my fabrics and cut cut cut and cut some more???
now to be honest I was only going to do my first hexagon so I could answer some of the questions if some one asked but I was hooked so on and on I went.Like Topsy said it just grewed there on the table ?6
I did plan to sew and make up my first border for Juliette but I have been in the yard clean8ng up the last 6 hrs? Hopefully I’m not to tired and sore tonight and get some sewn? Going to cut those 8inch inch floral blocks in 1/2 added black to the top and bottom then join them to alternating black blocks, and add a pink circle on top of the black blocks,
before I started Juliette I was making leaf borders for my churndash scrappy quilt. They are waiting patently for me to get over Juliette?
Going to link to Esther’s WOW or WIPs now and update again later, I need to get back out in to the yard and finish my jobs. Thanks so much for dropping in Cheers Glenda
Dear Glenda,
I understand that you can only work on Juliette. This quilt is so beautiful!
Marita
Hi Marita, thanks so much for dropping in. I just love how the black, red, green and yellow are working together, I can not wait to see it all cut out and in place. Cheers Glenda
How different is your churndashquilt from the ones you are showing on Esther page!
Love them both -they are beautiful in their own way.
Have a great day
Cheers Trijntje Huppel
Hi Trijntje, lovely to hear from you, I’ve just realised it’s all most August were did this first part of 2018 go to? My churndash is made up of a old silk from a kimono that was hand woven and in the light it keeps change shades and it’s working well with my reproduction 1930 prints, I had lots of fun making the blocks up this time round, as I’ve learnt a lot about machine sewing from Jenny over the lady 18 months. Right now I’m make borders up for the churndash scrappy that is all leaves, I l8ke making leaves as much as I do circles LOL . Cheers Glenda
Juliette is very lovely but the leaf borders for scrappy churn dash are simply awesome! Happy stitching!
Dear Gretchen so nice to see your name here as I know it’s such a very busy time of the year out side for you. I was just telling Trijntje tha5 I’m making borders of leaves in greens for my borders of my scrappy churndash quilt top. I’ve appliqued all the vines down, cut out all my leaves and just tonight started appliqueing those leaves down, 20 done so only 220 to go LOL. The ones I showed are from a nother quilt top with birdhouses which I must finish one day!!! Hugs from Glenda Down Under.
I’m envious of your work table! Those quilts are fabulous. I’ve never done a black background quilt so I guess that will be in my list now. Cheers!
Hi Ingrid, yes I’m very very spoilt having these two big tables which will become 3 this week as I have another one coming. We have them for when the family come home for Christmas and we can sit 20 or more at one long sitting so it’s lovely. I need the extra table to be able to lay out a queen size quilt top!!! It really makes working on large quilt tops so much easier to be able to just walk away from it and come back when ever possible. It’s also wind proof now LOL. I have all but the last border of Juliette down on it now. Cheers Glenda.
such a nice quilt – I love those bright colors on the black background – stunning! and now all those leaves you show in one of the last photos so much work – you must change that to 50% quilting
Hi Karen how did it get to August??? Those leaf borders are from about 8 or 10 years ago, and belong to a birdhouse quilt top which is almost finished but is a UFO I must finish, I’m making new borders up that are a little wider but the same simple vine and masses of leaves but some fabrics are repeated were in those borders I showed there are not two leaves from the same fabrics!!! Lots of quilting friends sent me scraps when I was making them? My challenge was to use a different fabrics for each leaf? Cheers Glenda.
Oh, my gosh! I watched your quilt grow right before my eyes. It’s beautiful.
Thanks so much Kyle, it even grew right before my eyes LOL. But honestly theres weeks of work now, nothing is ironed on to the background or sewn yet except the hexagons. But I’m so enjoying having it on my work tables at present to just enjoy as I walk past it. I’m making up borders with 240 leaves to be appliqued at present so that will keep me busy for a week at least LOL. Cheers Glenda
I love Juliette! Beautiful quilt, very pretty. Great appliqued leaf border too!
Dear Fred, Juliette has to be one of my favourite quilt tops to work on, I had the fabrics, but had only bought them 3 weeks before Juliette came out, as soon as I saw Juliette I knew those new fabrics were calling her name. Now to find time to sew it all together. Cheers Glenda. PS making new leaf borders right now, just appliqued my first 20 down and that leaves only 220 to go LOL.
