WOW or WIP’s with Esther 8th Nov 2018

My days are flying past so quickly I some times have to double check what day it is.  WOW or WIP’s with Esther today has started,  This week was a week of finishing off quilts completely.

Completed

Completed putting on the outside borders what a nightmare as all the edges were bias so I had to pin every 1inch to make sure the weight when sewing would not stretch that bias an$ get flutting???

When machine appilqueing this borders I roll them in to where I’m working this keeps the borders neat, pressed and much easier to handle.

Yesterday at work came across these two items and brought them home?

My mother use to make these in the 1950 ‘s and 1960’s the. Again l

My mother use to make these in the 1950 ‘s and 1960’s and add them to each corner of a morning tea tablecloth for engagement presents.  Then she made her granddaughters ones when they became engageded.  I still have m8ne but it has been WELL used.

A very very large

A very very large table cloth that has been badly neglected has some big rat chewy spots and large mould stains but most of the ctochet can be saved to be reused in heirloom blocks.

Close up of one of the lovely crochet designs

Close up of one of the lovely basket of flowers in a crochet design this one I’ve never seen before?

I have also hemmed a large curtain but don’t have enough rings to complete hanging it so can not mark that one off my list yet

In the garden this morning, sharing close ups of flowers each are some lovely colurs that would work so well in a quilt and you can see why my quilts are so bright?

Morning Karen, my day has started with an hour in the garden at 6am. my days start so much earlier now that summer is here, Dawn breaks around 4.45am and so by 6 the birds dawn chorus is over and they have gone and the garden is so still, peaceful and quiet. This morning i have some drapes to turn up for a young friend I’m not keen on doing drapes but she is some one special so its a joy to do them for her. I ahve even been doing some fine hand quilting with the warmer weather my thumbs are working longer so my 1930’s Grandmothers Garden is been worked on again it must be 5 years Ive been working on finishing this quilt???? Cheers Glenda

Morning Rebecca, Thanks for dropping in. First though thanks for writing up your tutorial for those magnetic badges, I work in a local thrift shop on a Tuesday morning and our name tags are a pain to pin in place at some times, this will be such and easy solution for me. To day I will hopefully work on one of my leaf borders for my churn-dash quilt I’d love to have that one finsihed before Christmas too. Iv’e had so many finishes this year very very unlike me LOL I have all these great idea’s then when I can see how they will look I’m on to another project so I have endless UFO’s every where. Anne and Meredithe have been running challengers the last 3 years on working on UFO’s and boy have I finished a lot of my UFO’s LOL I love challenger!!!!! Cheers Glenda

Hello way up there in the cold cold while I’m in sunny warm tropical paradise. I spent several Christmas in Vienna a few years ago while family were living there, and I have to admit they were the most beautiful Christmases I ever spent. Plus the wonderful moment of standing on top of the mountains covered in snow before skiing down them, it is so so quiet and peaceful up there. Enjoy been inside warm and quilting Cheers Glenda

  5. Such a colorful post!!! And I am not even talking about fabric 😀 Love the black against the bright colors. it is my favorite. Bias edges can be a nightmare, although I am sure you will tame the beast and finish a gorgeous quilt!!!
