End of draws all clean again?
Waxing the draws to help make them easier to slide in and out?
My stand now has the wooden oak cabinet on, it’s a beautiful old cabinet. We are now cleaning and hopefully will get the 1923 machine to work again, it’s all rusted together in a dozen places. We have manageged to get the wheel to turn and Rod has ordered a belt for it?
Once we use to get thread on wooden cotton reels? We use to make so many fun things with them after the thread was finished?
I Bought these fabrics from a quilter selling online last Sunday, there is a wonderful mix of colours for Wrapt in Love and HOTYH.
Lovely greens for my leaves?
Some beautiful lace and crochet I’ve been given lately.

its well after midnight so going to close down and link with Esther on her WOW or WIPs Thank you for stopping by I do love hearing from you and I will reply some time this week after endless appointments in the city, life gets more crazy than normal this time of the year. Cheers Glenda
what a wonderful base for the sewing machine – I wish I had one like that that I could hook my singer red eye to
Hi Karen, My mum gave me hers when I was around 9 when she got her first electric machine, I learnt to treadle it when I was around 3 1/2? I use to lye in bed and just look at it, it was beautifully carved with acorns and leaves. When I was 16 we left the farm and my dad would not allow me to take the machine as we were moving in to the city and down sizing I never for gave him for that LOL. Now 60 years on I have been given this lovely old cabinet and stand so I’m loveingly restoring it and have my machine back to look atLOL.?? It has changed hands many times, and changed hands several times the last few years to people who were going to restore it but didn’t LOL.having trouble with the draws not opening as the wet has made the wood swell will get Rod to shave a little off the bottom and tops, I did wax them but it’s not enough to get them to open, and I do want it to be functional.
Hugs Glenda.
It is so exciting to see an old sewing machine restored with love and not turned into a table or the drawers used for some quirky purpose. What a lovely project to undertake. I have my grandmothers full cabinet Singer and I researched the number which tells me it’s birthday was 18th December 1908. There is a handwritten list in one of the drawers that gives the prices my grandmother charged for dressmaking during the depression.
What a treasure you have Alison, would love to see a photo of it? It’s ver6 special that you have the note inside as this adds so much value to the piece if you ever had to sell it? She was lucky that she had her machine back then to be able to feed her children with her sewing skills or they may have not been so lucky to see food on the table? I hope you use it Alison they need to be cleaned and oiled and run every 12 months at least to keep them in good order? Cheers Glenda from wet soggy FNQLD.
