Hi ALL with all the things going on I’m late writing up my blog, have uploaded photo but no messages or captions this week???? Lets see how far I get this time? its 10am now.
Sharing how I made my Pineapple for Hold On To Your Heart by Esther Alue this is Part 8 .
Silk Fabric I dyed for the pineapple topknot and big green leaves, the light beige fabric is what I used to dye the dark green fabric, it has a lovely silver thread woven through it.
Using seal and press to cut out my pieces from ironfussing for the pineapple topknot and base leaves these will be rawedge not turned. all tiny pieces are numbered or mark some way?
First I place a small teflon sheet down and I start working left to right this works for me
Slowly working across, pinning each piece as I go in place.
One completed top knot ready for the iron to seal all together.
All ironed together ready to be stored till I applique it down on to my background fabric
Just playing now to see how it will look and how I will build it on my background fabric. I made 28 of those tiny shapes that I built my pineapple from.
Add a few leaves
A few more slowly.
Pomegranate will be fun to make using irononfussing and the outer parts turned applqiue?
Bottom leaves of pineapple added, seeds of the pomegranate, and it needed a splash of yellow, so we have a sunflower LOL .
Finally the berries! Now to find the time to make the other 1/2 of this blocks LOL.
Close up of those pineapple shapes ?
In the garden this week.
Nov or Christmas lilly it is commonly known as here
One of my favorite treasures in the garden it surprises me each year.
He landed on our front terrace and when I was trying to photograph him he got quiet angry, so threw a towel over him and threw him back in to the trees.
One side of the two leaves that they have stitched together to form there nest. Start of a tree ants nest which I nearly touch, I was pruning the tree and this was on one of the ones I cut down. They are very vestie and you do not want to get to close to them.
Its a bit like a football shape leaves are around 8inchs long and 5 across. When they want another room they pull another leave across and attach that one and they can have up to 12 or more leaves all pulled in to make there nests .
Came to visit last night
Up close and personal, one of our local wee frogs which the garden is full of after the rain last night?
Thanks so much for stopping by. Will try and add some more garden photo’s .
Cheers Glenda
very nice! I have not seen a link up from Esther for sometime now – did she stop doing it? I love your applique
Hi Karen, Thanks so much Karen, really loving making this beautiful 2019 design Hold On To Your Heart of Esther’s I wont get it finished this year but there is all ways next year LOL While Esther is away with her daughter who is having Chemo, she is unable to use her computer we are running WOW or WIP’s on the group each Wednesday. Cheers Glenda
The pineapple is lovely, you are a very patient lady but so worth it when the blocks is finished. The lily is very interesting but those ants sound dangerous! Happy Stitching!
Morning Gretchen, thanks for dropping in, its 6am here and a perfect morning, 25C sunny, quiet except for the birds telling me they are about. Most of my quilting has been put away till the New Year as I prepare for Christmas, need to do some cooking, tomorrow the grandies are coming for a sleep over and will dress the tree, I have been wrapping presents for Silent Santa Christmas Eve. I still have some more to wrap. Not sure how this year went by so so quickly. Going to make microwave material bowls to day even if I don’t do any thing else they need to be finsihed today, so I must keep out of the garden LOL Cheers Glenda
