Have been working on my Red Delicious this week plus several other designs?
Endless threads to thread and pull to the back and tie off!
Close up of those stems and carnation flowers
Some little wool punched blocks came in to the shop and there was very little back ground fabric on some of them, they need a lot of help in way or the other, I’m turning them in to a child’s cuddly or comfort quilt
Found the below this morning, a sample of how to reverse applqiue it was called, but not sure if thats the correct word, it was a night mare to do as I’d used a calico for the top fabric and it was far far to loose a weave, not sure how I ever managed to complete it LOL

Back of fabric!
In the garden early this morning.
I think it is the best way to do those beautiful Japanese symbols that are so intricate?
What I ahve been working on over the last 24hrs , started at 8pm last night, some tiny pieces of beige calico with punch work were handed in to the Opp Shop. I brought them home and have been working out how I could make them big enough for a child’s quilt, I was able to save 7 pieces. Below is what I’ve been doing .
Punch worked blocks on beige calico. Will frame them in a deep red or blue child’s print then join them all together. Top left hand corner has two sides done in the red so far.

This is the wee dragon fly that came to visit covered in spider web!!! I managed to cup him in one hand and slowly remove the web and then let him fly away to live another couple of months hopefully????
This morning I watched this spider build this web it was incrediable how fast he worked and spun this incrediable web?????
It’s hard to believe they can make this much thread then recoil it all !!!!!
Look at his legs pulling those threads tight?????
Thanks for dropping in, I’ve not finished my blog its been a very busy day so far, so will finish it today or tomorrow as it will still be Wednesday some where in the world LOL
Cheers Glenda
What a wonderful children’s quilt! It will be greatly appreciated, I have no doubt. Love the comment “endless threads”. Lol. Yes applique is often “endless threads” to pull and hide, but I have discovered that I don’t mind so much when doing applique! Love your vase and again, love seeing all the details. Thank you.
It keeps growing Lennea LOL It was going to be a cot quilt!!!!! Now its a child’s quilt?
I was taught the reverse applique when I first started quilting almost 40 yrs ago and it was the actual pattern on the back of fabric on the front w the fabric right side facing out on the bottom Then you sew around the pattern on the backside up. When done you cut fabric on the edges on the front of fabric. I hope this helps.
So your applique sandwich should be(from top to bottom) fabric background back side up w pattern drawn, applique fabric backside to front of back ground fabric w front side on the very bottom.
