A Ulysses Butterfly on my doorsteps this morning??? It was Dead as bottom part of wings not formed; rather sad but beautiful, inside the frame is the shell of a local sea urchin found washed up on the beach.

Ulysses Butterfly

My family has flown away for another 2 years!!!!!!!! when they left they left me a fare well gift, a food-saver,

Zapping 12 swap applique blocks?????

well it may not sound to exciting butttttttt my DDL thinks out of the square & was thinking about zapping my crafts!!!!!!!!!!!  I live in the Tropical rain forest & for 3 to 5months  we have a wet season in the summer which has around 90% plus humidity day & night with temps around 3oplusC?????? I have too many swap blocks in Red-work & applique

Who could ask for more????

to count; as for 9 years I ran an office 7 days a week & by belonging to an online swap group it kept me sane. Trying to keep these lovely blocks free of mould through the wet is a full time job, now I think I have the answer!!!!!!!! I will keep you updated on this.

After 8 weeks I’m on my own again & just back from Coffee with my girlfriend,  fish & chips beside the beach plus sewing

Close up of Blanket stitching around Iron on fusing

Destination Vienna one day?????

, AGAIN I forgot my camera but look what I brought back with me???? Click on photo’s to enlarge?????

Obi sand & autumn leaves from the beach!!!

Takeko gave me two silk Obi’s

Close up of Obi made with silk.

to use in my patchwork & I picked the leaves up off the beach for you so you would believe I do go to the beach!!!!!!

On arriving home I found the birds had visited my Strawberry plant???

There were lots of strawberries this morning??????

it was covered with strawberries when I left this morning!!!!! Sorry the photo is on it’s side but if I try turning it I will be here till next week??????? Herb bowls are ex chief cooking bowls hanging from a steel pipe tripod, my idea????? Stops the wild turkeys from digging them up as they all swing like crazy when they try & land on them!!!!!

Last but not least DS sent me a photo, they had just arrived in Dubai.

Dubai how Beautiful on Palm Island

It is only 3.50pm & all this has happened so far to day. I guess many of you have gone to sleep before getting this far????? those of you who kept on reading thanks!!!!!

Cheers & Happy stitching Glenda

Glenda, I don’t know where to look…or where to start looking! You have been super busy by the looks of things. I do envy you a day out by the beach with a friend though, I could definitely use some sea air to calm me down after all the computer issues I had last week!! Love the quilt pics (where do you find the time???) I’m sorry to hear that your family has left for another 2 years. But that food saver is probably the best present you could ever hope to receive. What a wonderful idea. Clever thinking!

Those obi’s are to die for I just love them. You live an interesting life out there in the jungle. 😉 I want a photo of the beach LOL. Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.

Well I wouldn’t trade my concrete jungle called Houston for the jungle Glenda lives in, just kidding of course. Love your pictures Glenda, indeed how do you find the time? Indeed a picture of the beach so I can at least dream of cool breezes when looking at it, it’s been over 100 here every day for 16 days already, and NO rain to speak of for just about the whole year, Texas is suffering from a severe drought this year. Oh well, I’ll just keep on sewing when I can to make me forget the rest of the world. Love your food saver, need to get one of those as well, however, I can use mine for “food”, the AC pulls out all of our humidity so I don’t need to worry about all of my WIP’s getting mold on them. Happy Quilting and sewing, everyone.

Beautiful butterfly. I have seen wasps literally ripping the wings of butterflies like that. Poor thing. Love the Obe’s and your quilt is awesome. Oh how nice it would be to travel. I keep telling myself I have to take a break and go someplace someday.

    Hi Glenda,
isn’t that butterfly just beautiful. So sad that they live for such a short time, but the colours!! Now there’s a quilt! Particularly after doing the Sharon Schamber workshops over the weekend. I have two Obi’s that were given to me years and years ago, they just sit in my sewing room, I feel too guilty at the thought of giving them away, and I’m fairly sure I’ll never use them either. One day I’ll let them go…
Envy the beach, but at least I was at the beach the weekend before! We took our niece over to Moreton Island for a few days, she was visiting from London and was sad at missing summer. Love your quilts Glenda,
    Shaaryn

Your blog entries are always a joy to read. What a gorgeous place you live in and you make beautiful things.

What a clever present you got! Just make sure the fabrics are bone dry before you seal them.

That butterfly is so beautiful. Shaaryn is right, that would make a beautiful applique quilt, with all the butterflies you have out there. Not that you need more enabling ;o)

Great catching up on the news! We are “suffering” in a resort in Dubai!!! It’s hot but we are somehow all managing to relax and unwind after our holiday in Cairns 😉 We spent yesterday arvo at the waterpark and so far today in the pool…this arvo off on our Desert Safari.
Lots of Love from us all!

PS. Yes Husbands are a WONDERFUL invention…if I do say so myself 😉
