I have just come in from the garden 8.40am. Spending 2hrs in the garden so early is a special time this time of the year, before it gets to hot. I have been weeding in the pool area
and the Gardenia is in flower, the perfume is breath taking. Umbrellas and tables are back up on the patio
as summer has arrived with a bang, we are back in to the late 20C early 30C. Washing is now hung on the side veranda as it gets to hard and dry if put out side!!!! Then when the wet starts it at least has a chance to dry!!!!!!
Yesterday a friend called me to say she had several plants she no longer wanted (our plants grow like weeds all year round) that she knew I had my eye on!!!!! So I have just been finding homes for those, this is a beautiful water iris and you can see I had the perfect spot for it. I was lucky enough to score two very large (biggest ones I have seen up here) Desert roses. These are very temperamental to grow here as it is either to dry or too wet?????
Our river is looking so beautiful and Serene this morning, not a breath of air movement yet and the ducks are just bringing their babies to the water from the nests, I never get tired of seeing the duckings playing in the water for the first time, they are soooo brave to just follow mum with out a second thought on to a Hugh water mass.
On Monday our lass who is visiting from the South of France; and I visited Trinity Beach, it was a picture perfect day, not too hot and not too cold???? I managed to beat the birds to the strawberries this week I ate them yesterday and we are now eating our own bananas!!!!!
Sewing has not been productive quilting wise as I have been mending mostly; I think this is the worst kind of sewing??????? I have been doing a little with my Hearts Desire designed by Esther Aliu, playing around with the borders even though I’m far from finishing my centre blocks, but I could’t wait any longer to see what it would look like!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m not very patient!!!!! and I have had such fun I’m glad I did start them??????
Thanks for sharing stories and pictures of your wonderful world, Glenda.
Your Heart’s Desire is going to be a stunner! Too beautiful. Your work is so neat too.
And those beautiful flowers you have growing in your garden are so pretty.
I love this time of the year as it is before the rains come and down everything in the garden and we end up having to wear gumboots all the time!!!!!!!
Looks like you live in paradise sure is beautiful. I wish I could sit on that beach.
You are putting your deck furniture out and we are taking our and putting it away. Getting ready for winter. I enjoyed my tour of your paradise.
Hugs Bunny
Evening Bunny, most people who visit call it Paradise, but we do have lots of down sides to it, wait till the wet season starts and I do nothing but moan every email?????? Hugs
Thanks for sharing! I love getting to know you, you are a very special person
Thank you Pat. Wait till you realyyyyyyyyy get to know me!!!!!! Hugs
Love LOVE your border
Hi Lynette, I’m still not happy with the same red both sides, I’m in the middle of trying a darker shade of red on the outside. Will keep you posted.
Now Glenda, you are making me so jealous. We are experiencing cooler then normal weather here this fall. I would love to have three or more months of summer. I think I need two homes. One in Australia or??? and one here, then I can have summer all year around for the most part. LOL
Love your Hearts Desire. : )
Hi Rhonda, I spent 4 months at the start of Fall in Canada one year till Xmas. What an experience, my first real life living with snow and loved it all. But I’m not sure I would enjoy it year after year. I think I will stay with my horrid wet season??????
I haven’t started my Heart’s Desire but yours is simply stunning. Love your colour choices. I think I could waste a lot of time on your verandah it looks absolutely idyllic.
I will be watching your blog – green with envy at the beautiful place that you live in
Evening Debbie, I hope you do find the time to make Hearts Desire, all though appliqué is my love in the quilting area it has still been a Hugh learning curve this quilt, I appliqué by hand so it is going to take me a long time but that is not fazing me, the longer it takes the better, bit like a good book you don’t want it to end to quickly?????? Cheers
Your quilt is looking fantastic, Glenda. And I’m jealous of the bananas. Prices are gradually dropping, but some weeks there are just none to be found here.
Well Vireya we are very lucky living in the banana country, we pay $1.00 for 5 local grown!!!!!!!!! It is the same with mangos.
