We have just had a week of rain, all up over 12inches!!!!! which brought down old timers as the land was so waterlogged.
But now the rain has gone and we have beautiful blue skies again with flowers shinning in the garden this morning; I took photo’s as I walked around enjoying the peace and quite early this morning.First was this lovely perfumed cattliya.
We grow lots of Bromeliads as Hubby is very fond of them and the turkeys don’t like the spikes so don’t dig them up???
Hubby also like the Anthuriums which are hard to grow here except on the road frontage.
where the flowering ginger also grows like a weed.
This is such a lovely time of the year for me as we have colour in the garden with out the turkeys been able to dig the flowers up????? as they are hanging or the bromeliads.
Early morning in the garden brings so many surprises in the tropics.
From nowhere there was our first miniature waterlily about to burst in to full flower.
Then an hour later it was fully open, nature is a miracle every time.
Quilting wise I’m still working on my corners of Peaceful Pathways quilt by Esther 2 down 2 to go???? and I’m enjoying every stitch. Bunny has completed her centre for this month and her colour choice is gorgeous, check out Esther’s free BOM on her website and look at the photo’s of Peaceful Pathways.
This week besides sightseeing with Chrystel I have been teaching her a little patchwork. It started out she wanted to make a carry bag
and so I killed two birds with one stone as we decided to make a scrappy & men’s tie quilt as you go bag.
I like teaching this to beginner sewers and quilters as it is fun quick and practical.
Plus it helps use up those endless scraps from quilts made so long ago you can not remember them?????
or those fabrics you wonder why you bought them now??????? I like using the wide ended men’s ties as they give a lovely shape to the finished bag, plus a deeper bottom.
Down side of sewing???? my trusty Bernina serger or over-locker motor stopped on Monday and is now in the workshop; there are no more motors for this model so my trusty mechanic is trying to find a second hand motor for it as it still looks like a brand new serger. I do need my serger as it is like my second hand when making sewing Xmas presents which I have started!!!!!!
For Laure. Pappa arrived home yesterday with a Hugh bunch of red roses and a Asko????????? See he does listen to you!!!!! Thank you dear.
I’m an X Kiwi if you have time check this site out it will bring a smile and a tear to your eyes.

Lucky you to have anthuriums! Love that blue bag.
Thanks Judee I have just been in reading you blog. Cheers Glenda
I like your bag, great idea to use man’s ties this way!
Best part about the men’s ties Corina is there are no raw edges; so this gives a lovely finish when sewn on and a very very strong strap any length you want!!!!??????
Aaah! I am so happy for you Mama! You have worked hard enough all your life to deserve a new washing machine once the old one as ‘caged it’ (not once but several times!)… and a big bunch of roses add to the beauty of it all: love and care =)
Big hugs and lots of love!
Laure
Thank you dear
the bag is lovely I’m still trying to finish my bag I started a while. I have hope.LOL
I love the flower are they from you garden?
Morning Carol, yes all photo’s were taken around 7.30am. in our garden, it’s more of a bush than garden as we live on the edge of a rainforest area. Cheers Glenda
WOW! I thought I had commented. Your photos are fabulous love the flowers. Your bag is too darn cute. Nice that you and Crystel are having so much fun. Everyone in my house has a bad cold and I am going around with Lysol trying to avoid getting it . hugs Bunny
