In the garden 3 mornings ago
IN the garden this morning, there rare now 3 orchids open, one is hiding behind these two.
Paw Paw tree has a male and female tree, female flowers are attached to the stem of the tree .
Male flowers are well away from the stem of the tree and in mass at the end of spindly branches
This is a very fragile lilly and it has the most beautiful perfume but sadly only last a couple of days.
I’m off to sit here in my chair on the side veranda , the only sunshine around at present.
This is my view of the rainforest trees with the sun shining through them as I sit knitting this morning in-between chores.
I was going to link with Esther http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com she is up in QLD teaching and for some reason her link to her WOW this week is not working. I will link up if it is switched on later.Cheers ALL Glenda
What a shame that you forgot to take a photo of the finished QAYG – but the photo that you have makes it look amazing!
Well done for finishing it, and thanks for all the other splendid photos of your part of the world – so beautiful!
You were so generous to give away the QAYG. It is so pretty! How cool that orchids actually grow in your flower garden. They’re beautiful. When your granddaughter is at school, she will think of you every time she uses the arm warmers.
Morning Gretchen, I have no trouble giving away my quilters when I know the recipient knows how much work goes in to them and loves them. It still amazes me when I see these cattleya orchids bloom in the garden myself as we use to grew them in glass houses in NZ and it cost a fortune to heat them throughout the winter. We have dozens of different tropical orchids growing on the trees here many are wild local ones too. DGD arrived Friday night and tried on one arm warmer, I’m now on to the other one and 1/2 way there, for some reason this one is growing really fast, I must be back in tot he swing of the needles after years of no knitting. Cheers Glenda
the link up at Esther’s started to work last night – I need to go back and check and see who linked to take a look. the flowers are lovely. And that QAYG quilt turned out lovely, love the colors on it.
The QAYG is gorgeous. The border fabric you picked really accentuates the center of the quilt.
Hi Kate. it is so nice to see your name this morning, I have just been in to your blog and love the green star you have just made. If any of you other quilters are reading this Kate is making some beautiful twinkle star blocks. Cheers Glenda
Glenda your QAYG quilt is beautiful and the border fabric is perfect for it. There will be a very happy recipient when they open your parcel. As always I love to see your garden photo’s. I have also been sidetracked from quilting or blogging the last few weeks – must be the time of year. Hugs Jenny
