I have almost finished quilting my Friendship quilt so have started another quilt. I did not design this heart and stars block a lady in USA showed me what she was doing and I drafted this up from her block. So if any one knows who the designer is I would like to credit it to her.
I made this quilt with a lady online in the USA her husband was very ill and we shared our progress as we made these blocks it gave her some one to talk to out side the family.
This block is made up of 5 pieces plus the centre star. I used silk for most of the stars and some yellow cotton most of the pieces around the star are Japaneses fabrics cottons mostly. these are ironed on to a fabric that would have been made it to Japanese mens PJ’s. It is 100% cotton. I quilted this square last night, some areas are difficult because of the the iron on fusing.
Close up of the sashiko quilting. I have quilted around the square then the heart then the star.
My Florenc Petro quilt those wee blocks are now buttonhole appliquéd on.
I spent the week making these wee blocks to be able to finish my Florence Petro quilt. I really like this form of appliqué as you can have fun with thread adding extra colour to your tiny pieces. If you zoom in you can see what I mean.
Hubby has just bought an old 4 piece dinner set, after years of dinner sets with flowers he has one with birds LOL but there are flowers around the edges for me LOL
We have had heavy heavy rain and days of it this week and we and every thing else looks very dismal. Thank goodness we have a lovely dry home now after 20 years of digging run offs putting in drainage underground and adding good down pipes so the water is controlled unless we have torrential rain which we had on Mon and Tues and the gutters just flowed over. My garden looks so dismal and nothing interesting to show except these.
Just opening.
Very water logged but still flowering!!!!!
These are growing about 20 mins from my home guess what flower they are ?????? you buy them at Xmas time in small pots LOL Zoom in and then you will realise what they are.
My hairy caterpillar upside down at night time he will turn in to a grey large moth. He eats all day and night sunshine or rain. here he is eating the end of the frond. Zoom in to Look at him ???
Look at that mouth he never stops chumping?
He was 3 1/2 inchs here but is 4 inchs now.
It has been wonderful to watch my caterpillar grow over the last two weeks.

Dear Wendy thank you for giving up part of your holiday to meet up with me. Its so nice to be able to put a face to some one I have chatted to on line for years Hugs Glenda
Your buttonhole stitches are so even, they look like you sewed them with your machine. Florenc Petro is such a pretty quilt. Your heart quilt is lovely too. I’m sure the other lady was happy to have a quilty friend during the challenging time with her husband. Your garden flowers are lovely as always. Blessings, Gretchen
Dear Gretchen I dropped in to your link yesterday how beautiful the golden grain fields look glistening in the sun, not sure how you manage any sewing time this time of the year on the farm but that wee house quilt is lovely. Hugs Glenda
